Michael Boraas is an accredited PPR teaching instructor with several years of experience both playing and teaching pickleball. Prior to that, Michael was a certified tennis instructor and avid player at the collegiate level.
Through his transition to pickleball, Michael launched Pickleball Tours to “Promote the Movement of Travel” in order to drive health and wellness through customized excursions. He has led groups of various sizes on trips, corporate and volunteer events as well as local and International teaching clinics. He is currently working on some exciting events and excursions for the remainder 2023 and into next year.
Michael brings a fun energy and entrepreneurial spirit to his events and is excited to share what he loves most about the sport, particularly to players that are new to the game.
Alex Simon, Top Ranked Pro Player and Coach. Alex Simon is one of the world’s premier pickleball professionals. He’s the fastest player to reach the #2 singles ranking in the world (Champions Tour/DUPR), achieving the feat only 9 months after first picking up a paddle. He’s a US Open Champion and competes full-time on the PPA and APP Champions Tours where he’s earned several gold, silver and bronze medals.
In addition to his pro playing career, Simon is a PPR Certified Professional and coaches pickleball camps and clinics in the United States and abroad, including Asia, Europe and Africa.
Simon is a recurring fixture on the podcast circuit and gives back to the community by teaching pickleball to the underprivileged.
Built in 2019, the AmaMagna 196 passenger ship is twice the width of traditional European river ships. She offers more personal space, more unique dining venues and more leisure opportunities, redefining the river cruise experience!
In March 2023, she unveiled her newest amenity, a regulation size pickleball court! The court is an industry first, and will allow guests to play when the ship is docked.
The sun-deck has several additional amenities such as a pool, whirlpool, putting green, track, chess and place to relax.
AmaMagna’s Zen Wellness Studio is another expansive space with a fitness center, two massage rooms and a refreshing juice bar.

While there are included excursions every day, plus many more ship amenities, when docked or cruising down the Danube river, guests will get the thrill of playing pickleball while floating on a river. Guests will sign up to play pickleball with the onboard cruise manager.

Foodies will delight on the AmaMagna as it introduces two enticing new dining venues: Jimmy’s, a family-style restaurant named for AmaWaterways’ late Co-Owner Jimmy Murphy, and the Al Fresco Restaurant, with retractable windows and outdoor seating. In addition, there is also the main restaurant and The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant — the only venue of its kind on the rivers. There, guests are treated to a multi-course tasting menu.
Your evening at the Chef's Table will be a favorite memory while on-board the ship. Daily, each venue serves locally-sourced ingredients and beautifully plated by an expert chef. And after just one bite, you’ll understand why AmaWaterways was inducted into the internationally renowned culinary society known as La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs!
